Officers said the shooting happened at about 5 p.m. after two women got into an argument outside a barber shop at North 20th Street and North Florissant Avenue.
So far, the center has served thousands of meals, and plans to distribute at least 500 more each day through Friday. But this vital work depends on volunteers.
Judy Simmons was thrown back from the front door, and her daughter's father was crushed by debris on the front porch. Somehow, they both miraculously survived.
"They told me I was deceased when I first got out of prison. I said, 'I'm not deceased, you're looking at Paige Spears.' She said, 'No, you are deceased.'"
