GREENVILLE - The ISP District 11/ Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 8 are probing a homicide that occurred in the 600 block of East South Sixth Street in Greenville, IL., Bond County. The call to ISP came in at 7:24 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022. This is a brief synopsis of the events that occurred by ISP: "Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: ISP District 11 and ISP DCI Zone 8 responded to a reported shooting at the above time and location. An unknown female was located deceased. A subject was reportedly barricaded in a residence in the 500 block of E. Main Street, Greenville. At approximately 1:00 a.m. the ISP detained a subject as part of the homicide investigation. SOUTH ROXANA - Bryce Dell comes from a law enforcement family as his uncle Dennis Plew is the Dupo Police Chief. Plew has had a long police career serving in the Cahokia Police Department and SIUE Police Department. Dell recently became a South Roxana Police Officer. LOUIS - The Illinois State Police Public Safety Enforcement Group released information that a 24-year-old male from St. Louis was shot in the 1300 block of North 44th Street in East St. Louis and later succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital. The call to PSEG came in at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022. Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: "PSEG agents responded to a reported shooting at the above time and location. EDWARDSVILLE - A group named Plum Creek Greenspace has been protesting the upcoming bid for development along Plum Street in Edwardsville. After launching petitions and protests, the group hopes to make their voices heard by the county - and whoever wins the bid. “We just want to be cautious with what kind of development we do there,” Jay Myers, a group spokesperson said. “I do enjoy the amenities of Edwardsville and would like to see that mix between greenspace and development maintained. ALTON - Illinois-American Water continues its impressive sewer system work at Alby and Sixth Street in Alton. The massive Alton project separates the wastewater system from stormwater systems. Several miles of sanitary sewer will be installed in different areas of Alton through the project. The sewer/stormwater systems changes should enhance water flow and will be very noticeable during rainstorms when finished. Illinois-American Water spokesperson Karen L Cotton said Alby Street is closed from Sixth Street toward Seventh Street, with future closures north and east of Alby/Seventh Street. "Realistically, Alby Street in Alton will be closed to thru traffic until May, weather dependent," explained Cotton. "Sewer work will progress north up to 12th Street. 12th Street is the furthest north we will be working along Alby Street." Illinois-American Water has been very thorough in updating the project in the media and Cotton said they will continue to do that in the future.

JERSEYVILLE - Senior Kate Jones has had a very successful 2021-2022 school year, first qualifying for state in girls tennis and now on the basketball court for the Panthers. Kate and her doubles partner Sabrina Ingram advanced to IHSA state tennis competition. ST. LOUIS – United States District Court Judge Matthew T. Schelp accepted a plea of guilty from Demeria Thomas, age 38, on today’s date for deprivation of rights under color of law related to her knowingly allowing inmates to assault another inmate while in his cell at the St. Louis City Justice Center. A grand jury in the Eastern District of Missouri previously indicted Thomas in July 2021. Judge Schelp set sentencing for May 10, 2022 . According to the indictment, on March 22, 2021, Demeria Thomas was employed by the City of St. Louis as a Corrections Officer at the City Justice Center. Thomas was on duty at the City Justice Center on March 22, 2021, and acted, at all times relevant hereto, under color of law. Thomas was operating a control panel which locked and unlocked cells in her area of responsibility. After engaging in conversation with two inmates, Thomas unlocked a specific cell door. JERSEYVILLE - Senior Edward Roberts has emerged as one of the top players for the boys' basketball team at Jersey Community High School and has done well for the Panthers. Roberts is one of the Panthers' top scorers and a solid rebounder and defensive player with several steals on the season. Including games through Feb. 1, Roberts is averaging 8.1 points and 5.2 rebounds-per-game, along with adding 47 assists, 41 steals and 10 blocked shots along the way as Jersey is currently 11-12 on the season. In addition, Roberts is an exceptional all-around athlete, active in football, tennis and was also a champion swimmer when he was younger. For all of his contributions on and off the court for the Panthers this season, Roberts has been named the school's Riverbender.com Quality Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Male Athlete of the Month. HIGHLAND - Made possible in part by a $10,000 matching grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a mural was designed and painted on the side of the Weinheimer Community Center at the corner of Main and Pine Streets in Highland, Illinois, by Robert and Liza Fishbone of On the Wall Productions from St. Louis, Missouri.
