Residents of Hyde Park have complained for years about a local business that they say creates eyesores and environmental hazards. Now, they're taking their complaints to court. In a lawsuit filed on behalf of the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association, residents say the owners of Shreve's Engine Rebuilders violate St. Louis City ordinances and state environmental laws by mishandling industrial waste and toxic chemicals.

Sarah Wood Martin, the alderwoman for St. Louis' 11th Ward, has resigned from her position of five years, effective Monday. In a news release, Wood Martin said her resignation comes from the passing of Proposition R on April 5. In addition to turning over ward redistricting to a citizens' commission, Proposition R strengthens conflict-of-interest regulations for the Board of Aldermen.
