The City of St. Louis Department of Health is reporting a “staggering rise” in COVID-19 cases.

In a press release today, the city says that cases of COVID-19 have “more than doubled from the week starting December 14 to the week starting December 21,” and they’re expected to continue climbing.

“New data shows the 7-day average positivity rate has climbed to 24%,” reads the report, “The highest since the department reported its first COVID-19 case in March 2020.”

And the news about COVID-19 hospitalizations isn’t good, either. From the press release:

“I already knew he shot a cop, and shot somebody else, so I didn’t want to do anything to set him off," said Cox.

The two 24-hour urgent cares see about 150 people a day at each location right now. They have rapid and PCR tests available at both locations.

"We felt it was really important to let the community know where we are and what they can do to help prevent a disaster from happening," Dr. Garza said Thursday.

Michael P. Oshia, 50, was charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.
