Centene unit to get $1.4B Missouri prison health care contract after judge’s ruling

A subsidiary of Clayton-based Centene Corp. will assume health care for inmates in Missouri prisons later this month after a judge’s ruling Thursday in a state contract dispute. Corizon Health, which has held the state's prison medical care contract since 1992, sued the state's purchasing division in August for awarding the contract to Centurion Health, a Virginia-based unit of Centene, claiming problems with Centurion's bid should have disqualified the company.
