SLPL Community Rebuilding Events for Tornado Relief

The St. Louis Public Library (SLPL) is committed to supporting the community in the wake of recent tornado damage.

Throughout July, SLPL will host Community Rebuilding Events every Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Divoll Library parking lot, located at 4234 North Grand Blvd.

These weekly events—held on July 7, 14, 21, and 28—offer free access to essential supplies and services, including:

  • Diapers and period products
  • Food distribution
  • Crisis counseling
  • Legal aid
  • Additional community resources

“SLPL is here for our neighbors in times of need,” said Mary Meyer, Manager of Digital Services at SLPL and co-organizer of the Community Rebuilding Events. “When the storm hit St. Louis on May 16, our library system was also impacted—many of our staff and buildings were affected, and our community was devastated. Our mission is to support and improve community life, and these events are a natural extension of that commitment. St. Louis Public Library is deeply rooted in these neighborhoods and will continue to be here for residents as they rebuild.”

Two SLPL locations—Cabanne Library (1106 Union Blvd.) and Julia Davis Library (4415 Natural Bridge Ave.)—remain temporarily closed due to significant storm damage.

SLPL is partnering with Behavioral Health Response, Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, Operation Food Search, St. Louis Area Diaper Bank, and the Urban League to provide support.
